To the haters on the message boards...
There is a handful of people I notice who you rarely see in actual live role play, who occasionally if ever duel unless there is a tournament going on, and how only show up to rag on people or their only writings on the message boards are to rag on other people.
There is enough hate in the world offline, we don't need it here online too. This "justification" of your playing a "mean" character is quite frankly bogus. You the players are just mean spirited and angry and looking for an outlet to take it out on people, like this forum. Yes, I have done some dumb things to get picked on for because I missed some things in the rules I couldn't seem to find in DoS, but seriously some people are just viscious over the stupidest little thing around here.
If there was a function to permanently ignore some people in the chat rooms and on the message boards so you don't have to have your time wasted scrolling through it that would be awesome. I tend not to answer or reply to those people, but it's easy to miss stuff when you are trying to scroll past the post upon post of ragging nonsense.
You think you are being cool, but you come off as petty and trite and frankly wasting people's times who come to places like this to help escape the hoards of people who do it offline.

No offense. But have you watched yourself in RP? You have little ground on which to stand with your negativity in chat rooms and all. I may be one of the occasional "haters" and all, but I also see the ones you're calling out in rooms far more than you have been.
Add to that, that these characters you're now complaining about are also playing other characters that are Not ragging on people, you'll begin to understand the concept of IC vs OOC.
If you are having trouble understanding the mechanism of blending or being unable to differentiate the subtle context of IC vs OOC, I am sure one of our many patrons will be happy to assist you.

*You* didn't get picked on. Elijah the *character* did. There is a difference between OOC and IC. You are not your character and feeling offended because they are getting ragged on is in a way blending.
Why Seirichi ragged on Eli is obvious. She was apart of Team Beat Down during the 2011 Hydra and seeing as your character is challenging Lem, a member of her team, she's going to rag on him if there's something wrong.
Blaming the rules isn't going to work in this case since it's clearly shown that Loyals can only be challenged once per month. If you missed that, it's a mistake. No one OOC is going to hold it against you. The challenge is invalid and things continue.
Simply because *you* dislike something another player does - does not mean it's the wrong way to go. There's possibly things others dislike about you, but they are not posting an OOC post attacking you for it. One shouldn't dictate how another plays their characters.
I'm sorry you, the player, feel offended. But it's all within the bounds of being in character. It's not as if Myria and I brought in all our alts to rag on Elijah within the one thread.

My point was more about what people chose to rag on people about, which is over little things versus big things.
If you want to rp about how someone beat someone else in a duel or their team is better than that team is one thing, ragging on people because they missed something on the message boards is another.
I am all for conflict RP, yes I do, I guess I think there is a difference in what you chose to conflict over. What I see Sirichi and Myria do on the boards is just petty is all and seems unnecessary to the RP environment.
I guess I believe in a philosophy of "pick your battles", and see a lot of creative energy being wasted on stupid little petty things is all and it's rather disappointing. It's rare they have directed towards me, but it's a real turn off when it seems every challenge made by anyone certain players have their characters constantly drool on over stupid stuff.
If there was a way to ignore certain username's posts that would be awesome is all I am saying, because scrolling through it all is a waste of my time trying to get what I WANT to read from other players.

I'm not trying to start a pop off here but you're acting pretty hypocritical.
A. ::Looks at Nayun, then to E,then back to Nayun, like she must be some kind of simpleton::
B ::Looks at Nayun, then to E, then back to Nayun, like she must be some kind of simpleton::
C ::Looks at Nayun, then to E, then back to Nayun, like she must be some kind of simpleton::
D ::Looks at Nayun, then to E, then back to Nayun, like she must be some kind of simpleton::
E ::as all of the Knights of Rhonabwy regard Nayun like she is some kind of simpleton, he just shakes his muzzle back and forth and waves the guys off:: She's just retarded or somethinbg."
Your 5 alts ragging on my character during a challenge compared to mine and Myria's 1 ragging on your character.
"WarDrac is not a Duel of Swords Rank" is a little thing that warranted that reaction out of your characters. Just like someone ragging your character about a failed challenge. Please don't blend one thing over the other and twist the story when you're on the opposite end of IC negativity.
You can't pick and choose.

I'm reasonably sure that Elijah-player's post is, in part, directed toward me/the Myria character (and even if not, I figure I ought to say what follows anyway).
I, me, the player of Myria, do not hate anyone who plays here or on the RDI. Hate's a pretty strong word and a very powerful (and dangerous) emotion. 'Haters gonna hate' is a pretty flippant term tossed around a lot these days in social circles which I think has somewhat dulled the meaning behind "hate". That's probably tangential but I felt the need to type it.
TL;DR: I, me, the player of Myria do not hate anyone on this site or on the RDI.
Myria the character really doesn't hate anyone either. I can think of characters she strongly dislikes and she probably does hate the person(s) who offed Mama Graziano...and maybe Bode for all Maria's gone through because of him...but even that might be a stretch.
Can Myria be nice? Of course. Can Myria be mean? Sure, just like some 'nice' characters have their 'mean' moments. Is she as good a heel character as, say, Maria? I don't think she is. Maria's better at the role and, IC, she's accomplished more to back up the talk (TDL championships, baronies, etc. etc.). Myria's won a few titles/awards, but nothing like Maria or other Crew members. I think someone (Harris, maybe), called Myria Maria-Lite. That's a pretty accurate assessment, I think.
Elijah player - I, me, Myria's player, am not out to pick on you OOC or to try and be "cool" IC or OOC. I think most people that know me would attest that I am not (and never have been) "cool". For the record, I'm not mean-spirited or an angry individual looking to raise an IC ruckus in a game in order to make myself feel better/important OOC. There's absolutely no point in that sort of thing as I see it.
Like you, I have also been around these games for a many years and have made my share of mistakes. I've made challenge flubs myself and totally understand that from an OOC standpoint, we all mess up sometimes. But even if my character's mistake is due to me making a bonehead move OOC, that OOC error doesn't mean my character gets a mea culpa from other characters. Myria ate her IC crow when she (because of me) messed up her challenge and I was embarrased about my oversight OOC and had to roll with the IC ribbing accordingly. Stuff happens...characters have no idea if a challenge was messed up due to an OOC oversight. They will react how they react and that reaction (hopefully) should be entirely an IC reaction driven by IC circumstances.
That being said...if you would like to have a discussion with me on a player-to-player level to clear the air, I'm all for it. If you don't want to or aren't comfortable with that, I understand. Believe me, I'm not out to ruin yours (or anyone's) OOC fun or game enjoyment. I am sorry if I somehow have.

This. There's going to be smack talk, it's how some characters are. If you're totally against the idea then you, the player, need to practice what you preach. If you dislike the talk directed to your character, PM us. We're willing to talk things out.Myria Graziano wrote:I'm reasonably sure that Elijah-player's post is, in part, directed toward me/the Myria character (and even if not, I figure I ought to say what follows anyway).

We can't tell people what they can choose to rag on each other for IC. Take a look at the times other characters posted invalid challenges, they were mad fun of as well. If you slip up and miss something that causes your character to get mad fun of fun, you just have to roll with it and laugh along with everyone else. It's not as fun to take this place so seriously.
Lem is the "king of the nerds" according to Seirichi. Doesn't bother Lem. Certainly doesn't bother me. I'm sure Seirichi and the Grazianos would flame Lem if he botched a challenge, and he'd deserve it if he put himself out there in the public arena.

Of course they would. Why would the King of nerds flub a challenge? Nerds should know how to read!Lem DeAngelo wrote:We can't tell people what they can choose to rag on each other for IC. If you, the player, can't take the heat for IC reactions to a the invalid challenge, it's time for you to step back and take another break.
It was all IC. There is nothing that makes you more special that your characters are immune to the smack talk. Anubis issues a million invalid challenges, he gets laughed at. Elijah issues an invalid challenge, he gets laughed at.
Big deal.
Edited to fix it.

There's also ultimately only one person who decides whether or not you have fun while playing, and that's you, the player. Just relax and laugh. We've all chosen to play a great game together.
I enjoy the characters like Seirichi, Myria, Harris who talk smack, and I definitely enjoy the heel characters like Anubis and Xanth. They make this place much more fun. Pretty sure Anubis and Xanth think Lem is a lucky buffoon.
