Dockside Challenge
Since recovering from my coma I have discovered who I am and my past. Apparently I was, and still am, a man of conviction.
I do not agree with a box, animated or not, being a Baron. The "Trunk" is below the wins required for the rank of Warlord and I think needs to prove an ongoing right to hold title until that record changes. I also do not agree with the Overlord for granting this box the right to challenge. Therefore, by my conviction I am obligated to act.
I, Errol Faline, challenge for Dockside.
Should I win I will declare myself Renegade to the Overlord that created this travesty.

Re: Dockside Challenge
Errol,
I realize you've had memory difficulties since your return to the rings, but an Overlord does not choose who does or does not become a Baron. There is a new Overlord as of last week, so, if you had a beef with Lady Ravenlock, it's a bit late to settle that score in the ring.
Colleen
P.S.
Lilith wasn't Overlord when she gave Olaf that Grant. She earned it as Madness Prize.

Woah. Animated boxes have feelings too. That's so not cool.

Re: Dockside Challenge
Lilith, I have been identified by a few names since coming out of my coma prior to re-discovering my true identity. You met me originally as the French Patient, or Jean.
Colleen, whether or not she was Overlord when she gave the grant does not change the fact I fundamentally disagree with an animated box as a Baron. She may not have directly made the box the Baron but she set in motion the conditions that enabled it to happen. The fact that the *Box* does not have the record to obtain Warlord has often been accepted to warrant a challenge.
Andrea, many pets have feelings, I do not think that makes them appropriate to hold a title in this sport. Same with animated boxes.
Should I win, any and all that disagree with me are welcomed to challenge me. Apparently I've been through this before.

A translation has been attached:
Errol,
You have a lot of opinions about what happens in the rings for someone who has entered them exactly once this year. I accept your challenge, and I will fight with every tool at my disposal -- fruit bats, assorted condiments, discontinued action figures, a pool noodle -- to keep the baronial ring from its inevitable neglect should it fall into your hands.
May the Time-Gargoyles that pursue us all unto oblivion have mercy on your soul.
All the best,
Olaf von Trunk, Esquire

Let me say it again; Literally who are you?
Well, I looked my demons in the eyes
laid bare my chest, said "Do your best, destroy me.
You see, I've been to hell and back so many times,
I must admit you kind of bore me."

Re: Dockside Challenge
Iffin I recall correct, think I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Faline during a shift over at the Red Dragon.
Decided to check through the historical records the Arena keeps on file. Some while ago, Mr. Faline were the holder of the Fifth Ring. Although it seems he were suffering from a severe illness at the time, he successfully defended the title against a test of worthiness and two challenge queues for a total of four defenses, including a 5-0 defeat of former Overlord Valmion, before eventually surrendering the title on account of his poor health.
Any other history, Mr. Faline will have to provide on his own. But speaking on behalf of us here at the Arena, we always be pleased to welcome some of the Arena's legendary fighters back for a go.
Take no sides in the matter (aside from setting proper betting odds with The Line, of course) but hope Mr. Faline's health be improved since he last held a title.
Be looking forward to the match once it be scheduled.

Re: Dockside Challenge
In this matter who I am is not important.
What matters is that I hold the rank of Warlord, I have a reason sufficient to me that I want to challenge, and I have the right to challenge and that challenge right is recognized by the sport as valid.
Lilith, if you don't like it you can apply the test. Apparently, by Mr. Reid's research I've been there before also.
Mr. Reid, my health is excellent. Thank you for your concern and the welcome back.

Re: Dockside Challenge
Warlord Faline,
I have never thought of you as the sort that believed one should spit in the face of those that act kindly toward others, regardless of their species or form. However, by your reasons for challenging here, you have caused me to wonder if those of us that treated you with kindness and helped you to search for your identity were right in doing so. We could have left you to fend for yourself. Those of us that recognized you could have feigned ignorance. We did not.
I have never risen above the rank of Swordsman by my own choice. I left the earning of ranks and titles to two of my daughters and a granddaughter while I have enjoyed the workout and, sometimes, conversation to be had. Maybe, now, I have a reason to move up the ranks.

Re: Dockside Challenge
Colleen,
I was unaware that your possible willingness to provide aid to an individual was based on their alignment to your values and that they acted according to your beliefs. It is informative to know that is your position. I have no issues with you standing behind your convictions. Don't worry about having a "cause to wonder" since you can feel anyway that you like. Apparently, you can take some credit for creating the conditions of this challenge by helping me discover my identity.
