Whistle For A While

The night had not turned along the path as 'jira had expected it to. She was about to leave the Red Dragon Inn when the man she had seen speaking with one called Anya of a tavern at the docks spoke a greetings to her and Katt.

A way was meant for the marketplace and the one with the heavy brogue, Connor MacKensie, asked about the docks. Each was place was shown to him where they were and a little time was spent in each.

He was kind in his ways though s'jira suspected that he was quick and fierce with the weapon seen to carry. She did not mention it as they spoke, grateful for the company and watching over of her to see her to her simple home that lay to the north, just outside of RhyDin's stone walls.

A whistle he played along the way was given to her, to whistle out for help or to learn a melody on. She had accepted it and thanked him for seeing her home.

In the morning, she eyed the instrument strangely. Music was something she danced to and had rarely touched an instrument, lest it was to move it from one place to another.

That day, distraction was high with it and she forgot to go to the docks that morning because of it. She sat within the chair hearthside in the small stone and thatch home of hers and turned the whistle over within her hand a few times.

After a long while, lips pressed tentatively against the mouthpiece area and blew. A wailing, complaining and off-key sound pierced the air and she suddenly winced and looked at it with a smile. Her head dropped and she laughed where none heard her.

Again, it was tried without too much success at it. Off tune and no form or direction for the lost, ill notes she was trying to play. But again and again, she tried and enjoyed every moment that would have been painful to listen to by others.
