Diamond Quest XCVI is over, so let’s talk damages!
Six Emeralds entered this snowy, frigid cold tournament to compete in some of the coolest rings ever dreamed up by anyone:
- Matt Simon
- Canaan Devillier
- Rachael Blackthorne
- Jin Chae
- Jewell Ravenlock
- Gren Blockman
Although he was ranked sixth, our fearless Ranger stole the show! He narrowly beat Rachael in Round 1, sending her to the Less Successful People’s Bracket. In Round 2, he faced off against Canaan and said goodbye to the Cajun! In Round 3, he sent the current Diamond (at the time of the tournament), Matt Simon, to the Loser’s Bracket in their first of three matches for the night. Thus, Gren was the winner of the Winner’s Bracket. Go Gren!
After being sent to the Loser’s Bracket, Matt beat Jin for the second time in one night (as they fought on a carousel), making himself the winner of the that bracket. He then went on to face Gren in the Finals. In their first rematch of the night, Diamond Simon stole the show on the dizzying RhyDin Eye ferris wheel during a blizzard. But worry not folks! In their third match of the night, the two met on solid ground once more and Gren made an epic comeback to beat Matt for the second time in one night, winning himself another Diamond!
Other notable performances of the night: Matt beat Jin in two matches throughout the night while Jin beat Jewell in two matches during the night, sending her to the Less Successful People’s Bracket and eventually sending her home. Jewell took advantage of first time Diamond Quest participant Canaan and secured the only shutout of the night, but to be fair, the guy had just finished fighting Gren and managed to dodge a few of his blows and knock him off his feet! Last but certainly not least, Rachael had an impressive first match against Gren where the Ranger narrowly beat her; she almost changed the trajectory of the entire night!
In the end, Gren Blockman went home with the Diamond and everyone else went home with dead Christmas trees. Hurrah!
