Location: The Mud Flats
The horns on his head proclaim his majesty
He is fast, faster than all others
He is both powerful and agile
The Great Stag can defeat any opponent
This tournament will also serve as the Panther’s Claw Tournament for this cycle.
Setting
The directions for the tournament lead along a raised, wooden path through tall grasses to one of the many sea inlet areas south of RhyDin.
When the tall reeds gave way, there is a thick, foot-sucking stretch of tidal mud (left over from the current low tide) with treacherous pools of brackish water here and there making footing difficult to find. Careful where you step because competitors may find sharp clamshells and nipping crabs in the mud.
There are a few pieces of wood sticking up out of the mud for those competitors who might want to try to reach the high ground. A deep river of salt water winds its way nearby, the perfect place to toss the competition when they’re done.
Everyone better hope they fight fast because the tide is set to come in starting at 8:30pm and that river of salt water is going to steadily encroach on the muddy area, making it even harder to stand and fight*.
((See below for how the tide plays a part in the rules for the evening))
To remove someone from the field of competitors, toss, knock, trip, or kick them into the water! They might actually appreciate the chance to get clean.
For those not fighting, a large dock stands at the end of the path, hopefully far enough away from the splash zone. It is particularly posh with tables and lounge furniture. There is also a dedicated bar area, fully stocked and surrounded by some tables and chairs. Spectators have access to holo screens and televisions here. There are aerial cameras flitting around the mud field, getting close-up shots to be enjoyed now and replayed countlessly on the evening news.
