Summer Cycle 2019 | Diamond Quest #XCVIII: Jump On In… to the Pool (Saturday, July 13th)

Post by JewellRavenlock » Mon Jul 01, 2019 7:42 pm

Date: Saturday, July 13th
Time: 8:30pm
Location: The Outback

The Rules:
This will be a double-elimination tournament that starts within 10 minutes of the announced start time. Seeding will be done according first to the EMS and then in the order of any sign-ups. Participants do not need to be active on the standings at the time of the tournament.

The Setting:
Diamond Quest #XCVIII will be taking place in the home of the Duel of Fists: The Outback!

Unfortunately, it seems the Outback has sprung a leak. Ruh-roh!

The entire first floor of the Outback is completely flooded, so this Diamond Quest will be an indoor pool party! Maybe this flood wasn’t an accident though because someone just so happened to order pool trampolines to fight on! Fighters can also climb out of the water and fight on Styx, the soggy Fern, or the Bridge!

For spectators, there are plenty of pool toys to float around on, someone set up a pool volleyball net, the bar is now a swim-up bar, and people are doing canon balls off the second floor balcony! There’s also a sweet, floating climbing wall and a floating bull to try and ride on!

The drink of choice for the night is pool water. We have been reassured that it is not actual pool water though. Whatever it is? It’ll knock you on your ass.

The Prizes:
Last fighter standing will earn themselves a shiny Diamond. Oooooo

The second to last fighter standing will receive unicorn inflatable arm swimmies!

All participants and spectators will receive a flamingo floating drink holder

Diamond Quest XCVIII took place on Saturday, July 13th. Five Emeralds showed up to battle it out for the coveted, sparkly rock:
Gren Blockman
Rachael Blackthorne
Jin Chae
Eden Parker
Terry King

In Round 1, Eden Parker started out her strong run that would eventually see her winning the DIamond Quest by beating Terry King 5-1 in 6 rounds. In the other ring, Jin Chae sent Rachael Blackthorne to the Losers Bracket in a close fight while Gren Blockman had the bye.

In Round 2, Eden continued her strong run by knocking Gren Blockman to the Losers Bracket with another 5-1 win while Jin Chae chilled at the swim-up bar with the bye. In the Losers bracket, Terry and Rachael battled it out until Terry sent Rachael home with a 5-3 win.

In Round 3, Eden Parker faced Jin Chae. Eden didn’t manage another 5-1 win but she got a 5-2 win, sending Jin to the Losers Bracket and landing herself a place in the finals. Over in the Losers Bracket, Terry and Gren punched each other up in Styx until Terry sent Gren home with a 5-3 win.

In Round 4, Terry and Jin Chae fought to see who would face Eden Parker in the finals! JC had the lead until Round 5 when Terry tied things up and then ran away with it, sending Jin home with a 5-3 win.

The finals saw Eden Parker meeting Terry King! They see-sawed back and forth for the first few rounds with Terry taking an early lead, but Eden tied things up in Round 6 and then going on a scoring run to win the fight and the Diamond Quest 5-2 in 10 rounds.

Congratulations to Eden Parker, winner of Diamond Quest XCVIII!

Congratulations also go to Terry King, runner up and winner of some sweet pool swimmies.

Thanks to everyone else who came out to fight or spectate! Hope you all remembered to bring home your inflatable drink holders.

On a side note, the Outback will be closed until Wednesday evening so it can dry out!
