The First Saturday in May

While Rhydin was in the midst of Beltane celebrations, Colleen, accompanied by several members of the family, was in Louisville, Kentucky. It was tradition among horse racing fans and horse people in general to be watching the annual run for the roses. This year, they were spectators with no family owned horse in the race.

Abby and Madison, among the youngest fans in the crowd, often found cameras pointed at them. Their response was to wave cheerfully, but never speak to reporters. Their cute factor was always a plus for human interest points. Velen and Pearl had come along this year. Rick had opted out to spend a weekend fishing with his father. Maggie and Cate donned hats with floral decorations and settled in to watch the races.
