Dueler Appreciation Week Sendoff - Overlord Isle Family Day and Yacht Party

On the last day of Dueler Appreciation Week, Overlord Isle and Manor and the Overlord's Yacht have been set up to host a family day and party! From 9am-7pm, ferries will take interested families and groups (such as those in orphanages) to and from the Isle for a full schedule of fun! The Manor and Museum, Lighthouse and Gondar Memorial Statue are all open and accessible to the public so adults may explore while younglings are kept entertained by the mini-festival!

On the beach and lawn, games and other activities have been set up, including mini-dueling, face painting, games, and balloon animal-making!

The Overlord's Yacht has been moored and taken over for a pizza party!

There is fun for everyone to be had on Overlord Isle and the Yacht!

(( This is a board-only event. Feel free to post here if your char would come etc! ))

Despite the bounties and banter being bandied about on the Arena cork, Mrs. and Mrs. Anderson attended the Family Day with their trio of kiddos in tow plus the likely addition of an extra little boy with or without his father present (who knew with John really). Their oldest daughter had a riot in the bubble suits and with the mini-dueling, even if she came away from it crying after whacking herself in the face with the toy sword. Their middle daughter insisted on getting her face painted as well as painting both of her moms and her youngest sister, who to her credit, at least sat still for it. She made for a pretty cute little kitty cat even if it was a bit abstract. Call it a picasso-cat.

Lil tried her best to win a giant stuffed animal for Andrea and failed miserably, so her wife would end up settling for a small turtle plush. When the kids had finally stuffed themselves on enough pizza to feed a small army, they finally carried all the sleepy tots back home to the Isle. Well, the other Isle, not Overlord Isle.
Well, I looked my demons in the eyes
laid bare my chest, said "Do your best, destroy me.
You see, I've been to hell and back so many times,
I must admit you kind of bore me."

Ebon and Phen brought their two girls and all of the Stardreamer fosterlings to Overlord Isle to participate in Family Day. The oldest happily took to dueling one another in turns, trading off partners and forming teams to whack each other with play swords. They finished up with a round of boys vs. girls; the girls were victorious, 2 to 1.

Others laughed as they watched Ebon attempt (and fail) to make a halfway decent giraffe before letting the experts take over to craft balloon animals of all types and colors for the children.

Later in the afternoon, Phen took their girls and the three most recent fosters on a tour of the Overlord Museum. She and Azure took particular interest in the gallery of Overlord mantles, taking note of the designs as inspiration for future craftings of their own. Merain, the oldest of the three fosters in that group, was more excited about the history of the Overlords, and despite being a few months shy of nine years old, swore that someday her name would be among them.

As evening drew near, the entire entourage descended upon the Chimera to indulge in pizza and other treats, and a lovely time was had by all.

Betty was pushing Mari’s stroller to give Mathian and Sylista a chance to walk together, though the strange little family chattered amongst themselves until Gideon, Luna, and Kairi joined them. Betty was respectful to Luna, though it was nothing more than pleasantries. Kairi and Gideon received much warmer greetings and conversation. Apparently, the paladin was not yet forgiven despite her sacrifice. It would take time.

The group that had lived in Rhy’din longer than the Mystarians, had to explain to Sylista and Gideon what Overlord Isle represented as they were both quite frantic with the idea of an Overlord being celebrated in Rhy’din. Once the concept of it being a sporting achievement was understood, Sylista immediately calmed down and appeared to enjoy herself whereas Gideon appeared moderately contemplative at times.

Mathian had texted Haru to update them on the family’s location and informing him of who was all in the group. Once he arrived without Alik (much to Sylista’s obvious relief), the growing family had all assembled and they celebrated the event as a strange blended family that probably looked almost normal as far as Rhy’din families went.

Other than Luna speaking to Haru alone (which had Sylista curious and anxious), the entire day was pleasant and a happy moment, something the Runelord really needed to feel.

Once, though, Sylista's eyes darted around the area after catching a hint of whiskey, pipe tobacco, and old leather, a unique scent she associated with one person. It did not ruin the day, just the moment, and she carried on without much concern beyond that.

It shouldn't have been a surprise that Jaycy and Hope were both there! Aside from a few minutes, though, they split duties during the day by being co-hosts. They mingled with children and played games while parents were left free to explore the Isle and get a few minutes' respite from sugar-hyped tikes. Hope took a turn face painting before she spent the majority of the time refereeing those mini-duels (and giving pointers to future stars!). She may have snuck onto the Chimera for some pizza and a pillow fight in the main cabin but no one would confirm it!

Jaycy was visible, true, but she managed most of the administrative tasks for the day - making sure the pizzas were delivered timely, ensuring the booths had enough prizes, etc. Of course, though, she made time to greet as many of the citizens as she could manage, spending time taking photographs (especially with the larger orphanage groups that came through the day) and offering smiles, high fives, and even hugs where appropriate.

She made sure to deflect any discussions about the current politics in the Arena, deftly changing the subject by shifting focus to the day's event.

Nearer the end of the day, though, Jaycy made a point to collect the Overlady and introduce her to two youngsters: Serena Belle (5 years old), a humanish girl with strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, and Varel (6), a human-seeming child with hazel eyes and a bit of a chip on his shoulder (despite the admonishments by his mother). Talia, for better or worse, was far too young to attend the day. Hope, too, had a certain child to spend time with - she snuck off for a while to cuddle and enjoy the company of a boy named Malik.
