The Benson Boulevard Initiative Presents the
Fashion Week 2020 Charity Kickoff: The Reimagined You

9 PM - Haunted Armory, Battlefield Park (Discord The Wilds)

All Proceeds Benefit the Sanyumato Relief Fund, the Small Business Relief Fund in celebration of Jewell Ravenlock and the RhyDin Welcome Center.

A mixture of magic and technology would surprisingly be at play in the overgrown wilds surrounding the Haunted Armory at Battlefield Park. As guests arrived, what appeared to be a synchronized set of sentient fireflies would light the way to direct the crowd to the stoned walls of the armory. A rabbit in a three-piece suit and bow tie would introduce himself as Walter of the Moon Rabbits to each guest as they made their way past the wild rose-covered walls and chatter on about the armory’s history, including the ghosts of the doomed Captain Morris and his five men who reside there.

Image

For the evening several of the hallways and spaces within the armory had been reimagined with sleek modern drapings and lounges for the guests to enjoy while retaining its quirky, dark charm. A giant silver-trunked meswen tree in the courtyard was rigged to spout a dark reddish-purple wine from each branch into waiting glasses. Upon closer inspection of one long eastern wall covered in vegetation, guests would find entirely edible sweets shaped as flowers and ivy ready for the plucking, the flavors ranging depending on the color of the item.

Image

Much of the armory’s impressive weaponry and suits of armor would be on display, though signs would warn they were under magical protection and not to be removed. Mixed in with the fully functional suits of armor were models in chain mail, standing completely still until the time was right to surprise an unsuspecting guest. This made for great theatrics but also helped distract should the actual ghosts who called the armory home make an appearance.

Image

DJ Shifter Talk set up his booth out in the courtyard overlooking the bridge that had been crafted for tonight’s show. Shields of gold, copper, silver, bronze and iron had been hammered down and forged together to create the bridge and add a special shine to the runway. Well-dressed waiters made the rounds to serve more traditional food and beverages to less trusting guests.

Mallory was happy to return to Battlefield Park, eager to see what had changed since her reign as Baroness had ended nine months ago. The sleek decorations served to highlight what she'd missed about the spooky old manor, the stone architecture and the suits of armor and the decorative shields framed by the draping and highlighted by the modern lighting.

She'd picked out a black jump suit for the evening, with satin harem pants and a sheer black tulle blouse that gathered at the neckline, sending star-like darts towards a tuxedo belt. The outfit was new, and while it had been selected with help from a certain redhead, she looked comfortable in it -- comfortable enough to spend five minutes holding a conversation with an empty patch of space that (allegedly) held a ghost.

((Thanks very much to Lucy Mitford's player for her help with this!))

The Empress Overlady never missed Fashion Week, especially the opening night! Except for those years when she was in Faerie.. but aside from those, even all the trouble in Old Market couldn't keep her away.

She had a glass of wine in one hand as she moved about the armory, chatting with the living and the dead as the latter seemed attracted to her light.

As far as Lucy was concerned, Fashion Week was a never-miss event. As soon as the dates were announced, she added it to her calendar---and then she started shopping. While she wasn't photographed nearly as much as she used to be at NY or Paris FW, fashion was still an expression of her identity on some level.

She felt pretty lucky that August was not only willing, but enthusiastic about coming to the events with her. So they'll be there together tonight at the Kickoff Event ready to watch the show, raise money for charity, and see some friends.

Fashion Week was always a bonding experience for Raven and six-year-old Addie. Though her husband would still participate if she asked, he mostly stayed home with one-year-old Clara and gave them free reign (and his black card) to get dolled up and have a week on the town.

Josette was disappointed she had to miss the initial opening of Fashion Week due to a recent increase in her seizures. Determined to not miss out on the rest of the week, by Monday she joined her fellow fashionistas to marvel at the latest creations by RhyDin’s talented designers and attended as many of the special events throughout the week as possible.

Monday, March 16th

Finnegan’s Fun House:
A throwback to her days at the carnival, Josie navigated the magic mirrored fun house in heels like a pro. High heels had nothing on pointe shoes after all! Afterwards, she made sure to stop over and say hello to Grace Cassidy and see her work her hair magic at Bright Brading 101
Image

Tuesday, March 17th
After taking in the fashion shows, Josie couldn’t resist popping into the Very Cherry Coffee Shop on her way home for the Hidden Talents event. While her brother Isaac might prefer knives, Josette preferred stars. Who knew the ballerina had a hidden talent with throwing stars? Must have had a good teacher!

Wednesday, March 18th
PUBLIC
Natural Spectacular: Celebrating the Drama of Nature in Fashion

Josette always loved attending Lucy’s events at PUBLIC and took her time admiring all the intricately designed accessories.

Thursday, March 19th
Millie and Mallie Runway Show

Koyliak never failed to impress with her gorgeous designs and shows. Josette enjoyed every moment!

Saturday, March 21
Fashion Week Wrap Party

Bailey returned to RhyDin smack dab in the middle of a powder keg. Then again, when weren't things at least a little bit crazy in RhyDin? Last fall, going into early winter this year, had seen some serious elder god activity. Then, the Opals blew up. With the number of powerful beings running around RhyDin, perhaps the only surprising thing was that crazy things didn't happen more often.

It was with that blasé attitude that Bailey went to the Fashion Week Wrap Party, even though he had missed every other event held during the event. His work had kept him away the city until the day before, but if he was busy or stressed out in any way, his behavior at the party betrayed none of that. He ignored whatever themed dress or formal dress code had been set up for the party in favor of his preferred attire of late: a brightly patterned short-sleeve Hawaiian shirt, blue trousers, and brown loafers with no socks. Some of the gossiping fashionistas wondered if Bailey had returned to public drunkenness or drug abuse, but the shared whispers among themselves revealed that Bailey didn't touch a single cocktail or rush off to the bathroom at any point during his brief stay at the party. He did nip out a couple of times to smoke a cigarette, though.
