The Royal Fortune

Post by Dante Keltar »

Location: Docks
Characters involved: Dante Keltar, Silphion, Raye, Onyxia
-------------------------------------

Dante didnt mind the docks, and of course The Swordman was tied on the dock. Dante was there, checking off the supplies.

The morning's heavy fog had finally lifted, and city life returned to a place that was normally too dangerous to wander alone. Despite the cold and haze of light rain, there was one tall elvish woman that moved here and there with a song on her lips. Shopping was done for the day, so she walked along the marina, gazing at all of the ships that chose to remain moored for the day. Some were wooden sailing vessels, ranging from the simple single mast vessels to the massive galleons. Modern ship of iron and steel, too, using anything from coal to electricity to go to and fro--though the bigger ones needed ferries. One Brig, however, caused Sil to stop and raise a brow, recognizing it.:"Huh. That must be the ship I saw a few days ago." Approaching it, she approached the back of a man with a checklist. Today, Silphion was dressed in more sleek and form-fitting wizard robes, with a thick wool cloak draped from her shoulders to help stave off the cold.

"Okay.... what about the chest of spices. It's missing." He talked in his earpiece. He glanced at the woman who was approaching him. He was dressed in leather pants and thick wool sweater. "Do you think you better find it? Good. Because I am not leaving."

No footsteps could be heard, even on the echoing wood of the pier. Silphion's movements were never heard, for whatever reason. So it probably came as a surprise when she leaned over from behind, peeking over his right shoulder with a smile. "Problems?"

"They forgot something." He gave her one of his half smiles. "One of the job duties of a first mate."

"I take it, then, you're the Quartermaster of this Brig?" A nod to the ship.

He nods. "I am. The Swordsman, the fastest ship in rhydin." He said with pride.

"Bold claim, but--not many ships in RhyDin either." She looked up at it. "Who'se the Captain?"

"Captian Thorne."

"Lastname sounds familiar. What's the first?" she asked, raising a brow.

"Sebastian." He glanced over the shoulder at her.
"Sebastian Thorne.... huh." She murmured, tapping her lip. "I think I remember a kid named that."

"He is an old man." He set the clipboard down and turned toward her. "He is retiring soon."

[Standing up, she turned her eyes over towards him with a wry smile. "If you think me rude, then I apologize. We've met before, Quartermaster Dante the Pirate. Though both times I wasn't in this form." She turned around more to face him, offering her hand. "Silphion Shintiyo, once again, a pleasure."

A chuckle, He took her hand. "It's nice to meet you again and see you."

A brief shake, she glanced up. "With so few other ships at sea, how does the pirate business keep going?"

"Doing other stuff. Delivering goods. I also keep myself busy."

"More a merchant vessel by that point. But as you say--it keeps you busy." She withdrew her hand, and glanced over to the stack of crates, remembering what he said about a chest of spices. "That said--I know of another pirate vessel around here. The 'Royal Fortune'. It's moored at the end of the marina, and her sailors are more the smash-n-grab type. Met a few yesterday." She glanced towards Dante. "Might want to ask them if they've seen your spice," she hinted.

"We still do the pirate. " He nods. "Thanks I will mention it to the portmaster." He grinned. "Some pirates don't have the honor code I do."

:She raised a brow. "Do the pirate?" she echoed, giggling a little bit. "Alright. What is that honor code?"

"still smash and grab." a chuckled. "then again. Booty is to me, is different, Guildlines,"

"That I followed closely. well I try to,"

"You prefer the curvier kind, I remember." A raised brow at him.

He grinned and nods. "Correct."

Clucking her tongue, she held a smile and nothing more in response to that answer. "Well, you seem to be busy waiting for those spices. Shall I leave you to it?"

"Its fine. You dont have to leave. can you show me this ship?"
"Sure. Hard to miss. It's the Spanish Galleon parked over there," she indicated, nodding towards the massive three-mast, five-deck ship that was sitting at the end of the marina pier. It was easy to make out during the midday.

He takes a step closer. "You are right hard to miss."

She raised a brow, smirking. "Shall I escort you? You might need the bodyguard."

He gave her a smile. "One second, Sil." He touched the ear peice. "Can you send someone to the Spanish Galleon?" I need to check its cargo. I don't care if no one can do it, It was you that lost some of my cargo."

"More convenient than telepathy, I guess," she mused to thin air. After a minute, maybe two, some comotion could be heard in the distance, followed by a pair of cracks in the air. Then, a splash of something heavy into the water.

He grinned. "I know." He waited for answer. But the splashed got his attention. Tapping his finger to the ear piece. "You know what. I handle it." He turned and grab his sword and took off.

Humming, Silphion watched as Dante took off running down the wooden docks, and its throng of people. Rising up fromt he ground, she hovered for a few inches, and then leaned forward--darting forward as the 'Flight' spell allowed her to easily catch up and keep stride with Dante. "Sure you don't want help?" She offered again. As the two approached the Galleon, they saw the the closest ship to it had been trashed, with thick and heavy sailors moving in and out of it, carrying boxes and bodies. More were coming out of the nearby warehouse, also hauling cargo. Some of the cargo was human, unconcious and curvy. The dead bodies were picked up from the pier and ships, wherever they lay--so none were strewn about, though there were plenty. Instead, they were stacked like sand bags to make a defensive fortification leading to the ship, which bore the Black Flag proudly on its mast, even at dock. The figurine on the front was that of a skeletal mermaid. The name "Royal Fortune" was painted clearly across the bow.

A shadowy figure was perched out of immediate sight on top of one of the buildings. She had been tracking this slaving circle for a long time and it seemed they managed to run afoul of others.

"Like I said, smash and grab type."

He nods. He touched his earpeice. "You better get the watch out here." He readys his sword. "Yeah. I hate slavers. Come on." He didnt go up the gangwalk. He moves to jump on the ship using a rope swing.

Which promptly lead to several pistols being aimed at him, and shots fired from multiple locations and angles. They didn't even bother entering melee range with him, for such an action. Silphion hung back, though was already chanting and gesturing out towards Dante with an open palm, surrounding him with a protective barrier that staved off the first wave of bullets.

Sharp silver eyes caught a familiar figure. Ahhh, Silphion. She knew she could trust the Archmage to handle herself. She faded back to track another thread.

"Reckless," she mentioned, watching him swing his way into getting surrounded right off the getgo. Still, she flew higher up into the air, looking down to see the situation far below.

He brought his blade up to stop a blade. He sends a backwards kick to the one behind him.

<B>"Hold yer fire, men"</B> said one pirate in particular. The rest of hte pirates backed away from Dante, circling him. He wore the heavy coat of a captain, and a tri-color hat to cover his bed of curly black hair. Stepping down from the quarter deck, the Captain approached the man who had vaulted aboard. He spoke slowly, with an almost shakespearan deliberateness to match the low bass of his voice. Not the usual scraggilyness of the archetype <B>"Pray, young child. What madness brings your tresspass aboard my ship? Answer cleanly, for you stand before the Dread Richard, boy." </B>A smile full of teeth, save one gold tooth molar.

The called came in over the emergency channels. "<I>Fire Alarm in on. Medical 1?" </I>"Medical 1 is on the air." <I>"Emergency call from the docks, Doc. Explosion reported with multiple casualities. Officer Keltar on scene.Live fire reported." "</I>Received Dispatch, Alert Captains Ravenlock and roll on Tactical Response. Medical 1 in service." The cyberdoc kick started the Honda Vector VPR and slammed the enhanced motorcycle into drive.

"Fire at me, and you stand in front of the court. You do not take women as slaves." Dante's words were smooth like honey. The sword he still grip that you can see the whites in his knuckle. His other hand drop low and presseed the keypad in his pocket to call his crew.

Silphion hovered high in the air, chanting softly away from the eyes that didn't bother to look up. A magic multitude of magic circles forming in front of her as she did so.

: <B>"Ah, a moment of mistake,</B>" Richard replied, bowing mockingly. <B>"For you see, these are free men, who only enjoy the company of free women. The Slavery Market is gone. It died with the Slavers Associations and their masters. These women you see? Drunken louts that my men are taking care of until awoken. They will be returned home before we leave dock, I promise you. You, on the other hand, may not return home. You have swung at my men, my family."</B> The Captain withdrew his pistol, and cocked its hammer. Fifty more pistols also cocked as the sailors mimicked their captain, and all lowered straight at Dante. <B>"And the only men I forgive are those who are family. Which is it, young boy. Do you join my crew, or do you die for the crime of trespass, and for false witness of slavery against us?"</B>\

At least he could look death in the eye, His free hand out. He is close to his element. Soon the boat had started to rock hard like it was in the hurricane. "I already got my ship. So I pass. But you my dear captian. who do you want more. My life or Your ship?"

Within moments, the sleek motorcycle pulled up to the scene and the fighting. "Fire Alarm." "<I>Fire alarm is on."</I> "Medical 1 is on scene and assuming command. Roll Medical 2 and 3. Get me that tactical response stat." "<I>Received. Medical 1 in command. Medical 2 and 3 rolling." </I>Doc wasn't waiting for response as she killed the engine and started threat assessment. "Dispatch where's that Tactical response?" The Barretta 200st was clearing it's holster as those Cyber eyes surveyed the situation.

: <B>"My Freedom, naturally. I give my life to that cause alone. As do my family. Goodbye, boy." </B>Fingers began to squeeze the trigger, before the sky suddenly turned pink. <B>"What trickery...?" </B>Gazing up, the captain and his sailors saw a massive pattern drawn in purple high above the sky. A seven layered magic circle, filled with runes, shapes, and writing of the Draconic Script. Its sheer breadth expanded to fill the Marina. And the mage that had constructed it was chanting near its center. With all eyes up, they missed the more elaborate yellow circles forming at their feet.

He did notice the sky turned pink. He was still balancing on the ship, making it rock. "Lower your weapons now."

"<I>Greesha, Mass Teleportation</I>," came a whispered voice. Closing her right hand, yellow light washed over every living thing that was above the magic circle beneath their feet. Dante, the captain, his sailors, and all their captives suddenly finding themselves standing on the street and piers in the same position they were on the boat, still facing off each other with a circle of pistols. Some pirates were caught with their pants down, a woman held beneath them. And utterly confused.

She felt the first tingles from the magic and drew back. "Oh frag." She grew physically ill. "Dispatch, Get me that tactical response STAT." The first signs of her allergy taking hold.

<I>"Exhaulted Ruin</I>," came the next chant--and the clouds in the sky split apart. A massive column of black-flaked purple light appeared to envelope the ship. It held there with no heat, but a feeling of charged energy that sent out the rushing wind and roar of quickly boiling water. When the light faded, sea water rushed in to fill the perfectly circle hole where ship and pier used to be.

Out of his element, He watch what is going on, He sword still held tighter.

The pirates, in their panic and fright, began firing their pistols blindly. Almost all missed Dante by miracle; others immediately rushed at him in paniced rage, drawing their swords to meet his. Captain Richard was fruitlessly barking orders to get them all in line. It was disorganized mayhem.

She stumbled back, loosely holding her firearm and finding a corner to vomit in.

[He was quick, trying to fight what as the sword meet his. He used his elbows. Feeling the blade on the side. He didnt need to look down. He just defend himself.

Four men fell to Dante's blade. Several more fell to each others pistols or swords in the ensewing melee. Members of the watch had already begun to appear, swarming in to help the dockhands in subduing the surprised pirates, and rescue whom they can.

Her voice was shakey as she keyed the mic, "Fire Alarm." "<I>Fire alarm is on."</I> "Roll Tactical with full magical support. Mass Casuality event with battle continuing. Medical 2 and 3, establish triage on the primeter and do not approach until Tact gives the all clear."

He stalks the Captain. Pulling his firearm and aim it at him. He was pissed off.

She fought through the nausea and brought her sidearm to bear on a pair of pirate close to her. There was two quick cracks and they fell to the Doctor.

Silphion, for her part, remained high above, casting spells that would bring out a mass of shadowy black tentacles to entrap or ensnare the sailors. Ohter times, a simple 'paralyze' spell was used. Once, a giant floating hand came out of no where to start punching the daylights out of them.

In all of this, the Captain stalked towards Dante, roaring in rage. : <B>"Boy! What did you do?!"</B> Firing without waiting for an answer, the bullet whisked by Dante's cheek.

He fired out. "Brought friends with me." Meanwhile Dante's crew had gone to the empty Pirate ship. Confused, He fired hard and fast. Thankful He had brought an automatic to this fight.
Empty pirate ship? That ship, and the pier it was on, was GONE. Disintegrated! The crew, at least, had plenty of other pirates to fight. A total crew of 350 men, swiftly being brought down by inferior numbers through confusion alone.

All Doc can hear as this is going on would be Brian's voice saying "Are you sh***ing me?"

The captain continued to roar in rage, but that did little in the face of Dante's semi-automatic pistol. He jerked once, and then staggered, falling over in a pool of his own blood; an anti-climatic end for the captain of the <I>Royal Fortune.</I>

Luckily the cyber eyes were on record, because she would have a devil of a time explaining this to the Captain.

Many pirates with a clew had turned their gazes up, and started firing at the figure flying high and fast above them. Some bullets hit, impacting with a bright blue panel of light that protected the Mage. Still, one of the shots caused the flying mage to stagger, before another spell appeared; with only a simple name. "Weird." And THAT caused MASS panic, as three hundred men, captured or not, suddenly saw their worst fears manifest. Utter chaos erupted as morale dropped to whatever invisible force Silphion had subjected to. Now they were starting to kill each other out of desperation, if not subdued.

Some of the Swordsman's crew were lost to Davey. But others were in Victory. The Great Captain of The Swordsman had fallen. Some of the other crew given up to the Watch. Dante was still on adenline. as he looked at the Captian who threaten his life. His semi-automatic were lower.

Cue more vomiting and shaking from the Cyberdoc. This was a full on Alergica reaction and not due to the sight the others were seeing. Meanwhile, the tactical teams had arrived and started the systematic round up of the pirates. Medical was running triage on the perimeter as the calavary had arrived.

With the chaos beginning to resolve itself, Silphion slowly lowered down to the ground, hands held behind her back as she leaned over (so to speak), and looked towards Dante, smiling. "You're reckless, you know that?"

A chuckle. "we got the job done." He slide his gun back in his pants. He touched his ear, "Status report."

And somehow, in the insuing chaos, a file folder was left on the motorcycle belong to the good doctor. Information about the activities of the sailors involved here.

Silphion looked across to the swirling water where the ship used to be. "You maaaaaaay have lost your spices. Sorry about that."

He glanced to the water. "I will sent drivers for it."

Speaking of the good doctor. With the cleanup bringing a release to the magical forces. She might have stumbled closer to Dante and Silphion.

:He glanced to the woman who stumbled. Concern on the new young captain's face. "You okay?"

Sil shook her head. "Good luck." She didn't want to explain how massive disentigration spells worked. Turning around, she saw one woman approach, with the splatter and stink of vomit on her front. Concern washed over as she floated closer to her. "You're not hurt, are you?"

"Would help if there wasn't so much magic tossed about." She muttered. "Doctor Ibaraki, Tactical Medical response attached the the 27th." The Barretta was holstered.

"I am Dante Keltar, firs...." He paused hearing earpiece. He closed his eyes. "Captain of The Swordsman."

Oh, the Watch. Silphion lowered herself to the ground, ending the flying spell. A faint wince as she did so, but held out her hand to the Doc. "Warden Shintiyo. A pleasure." She paused, hearing Dante's report of his tile. She felt her face flush. "Sorry."

"Warden, Captain." She nodded to both. "Keltar... I've heard your name around the station. Noah's friend."

He nods. "Yes, I am. We came by together in hope joining the watch."

Meanwhile doctor was looking both of them over. "You my dear are injured." She gave a pointed look to Silphion.

She smiled a bit, pulling her hand back to her hip, where a sliver of blood was seen peking out from the slit of her robe. "It hurts, but it's nothing threatening."

The hand had been clasped before the pronouncement. "Given the typical lack of sanitation on these vessels, infection is highly likely."

He needed to lean, listening to the earpeice, and half to the women.

"THank you for the concern, doctor but..." A turn, and she punched at the doctor--knocking a few teeth off the Pirate that was sneaking up behind her. "...I'm not worried about that <I>right now.</I>" Pressing matters. Like stopping the fight.
Punch delivered and then the doctor ducked low to spin and kick the legs out at the same time.

"...Ow!" She wrung that punching hand. The poor pirate never stood a chance, and fell like a burlap sack of potatos.

Punch delivered and then the doctor ducked low to spin and kick the legs out at the same time. Not th eLycan, the Doctor.

"I've got tactical mopping this up." The doctor said as she stood.

"Then I will go and see a healer," she promised. Seeing Dante escorted off to deal with matter, she turned attention back towards the woman. "Do you need me to stay here, Doctor Ibaraki?"

"I have everything on tape, so to speak. Is there a place my Captain to reach you if there are more questions?"

Sil slipped out a business card, quickly taking out a pen to write her home address on its back. She completed it with a small crystal shard. "I don't carry a cell phone with me, so this locator crystal can be used to talk to me through telepathy or phone," she explained. "Here are my work and home addresses." There was shouting from the distance. Angry, frustrated shouting. The dockmaster was screaming his head off, trying to find out who was responsible for blowing up one of his piers. Sil's head ducked, with ears flatenning out as a guilty look washed over her face.

She gingerly took the crystal and the card, "Thank you. Captain Ravenlock will be in touch." She sighed and gestured for an officer to work with the man. *wll be in touch if neccessary.

"Of course. I apologize for the... inconveniences I have caused." That reminded her... she turned around, flicking to end all the ongoing spells that were still entrapping, punching, or plain old holding down the sailors--since Tactical units were waiting for the effects to end to properly subdue them.

She looked green with the exercise of more magic. "Hrm." For a person of Asian descent to look that shade of green, it was impressive. Breath in... Breath out

Sil turned around, looking towards the doctor in worry. "Are you okay? You don't look so hot yourself."

"I... am allergic to magic."

Her face immediatly started to lose color. "Oh no! I'm so sorry you got subjected to all of that!"

She drew herself up to steady. "Occupational hazard in Rhydin."

A faint laugh was heard at that, still pressing her hand against the hip wound. "Don't I know it."

"Okay then. I'm going to find my normal healer, if that is permissible."

She nodded, "I've got nothing further." She had to get herself cleaned up and this reported.

With a nod, Silphion began to limp her way out.
