How You Betting? - Championship

Post by Conner Reid »

Well it’s been a rollercoaster of a tournament, mates. We were thinking about just packing it in given how well we been doing. But you know how it is with them contractual obligations and all. Plus it be the Finals and it deserves a proper send-off.

The Championship

(6) Gatito vs. (11) Suturi

Don’t think there were a single bracket that had either of these here fighters going all the way. But nothing captures the excitement and unpredictability of Madness quite so much as seeing two first-time Madness participants fighting their way to the very end for a shot at the title.

Gatito had an impressive path to these here final rounds. He defeated Skid, Anubis Karos, two-time Madness champ Myria Graziano, and multi-Madness final four finisher Jay Capistrano. In his fight against Capistrano, Gatito showed the same grit he been showing this whole time. Although Capistrano managed to find a lead in the middle rounds, Gatito never let it grow greater than a half-point. It took just two more rounds for him to close out the fight, taking the victory with a score of 5.5-3 in 8 rounds.

Rolling back in time, we can’t help thinking how different this match-up would be iffin the first round had come out differently. In Gatito’s first round match-up against Skid, Gatito jumped out to a strong early lead, but sitting at matchpoint, he just couldn’t seem to close the door. Skid worked the fight back to sudden death, but Gatito gutted it out and picked up the final point, setting him off on this historic run to the finals.

Suturi defeated Tali Zhdanova, Sheridan Driscol, Runt, and Ebon Ilnaren to find herself in this here final round. Ilnaren fell short of going back-to-back in the finals, as Suturi held him to just two points in their fight. She dominated the match, never allowing Ilnaren a single lead. Surely she were setting herself up for great things in this here final match.

Suturi’s run may have been surprising for the bettors, but her performance has been punctuated by unshakeable leads and one of the tournament’s few shutouts. Using her tail as her best weapon, Suturi’s wild energy and unexpected strength has absolutely unravelled opponents. We fully expect that iffin she manages to win the finals, she’ll declare herself supreme ruler of the Arena and all of its lands. And truly, she might be right.

So who are we expecting to come out on top? With two such surprising fighters, this finals match feels almost impossible to predict.

But iffin we had to pick one...

And we do...

We’d say it will be Gatito. Iffin he holds onto that grit he showed in his tough round one fight, we think he might have the right stuff to be the Madness champ!

So that’s it, mates. That’s how we’re betting.

See you at the fights.

Reid.
