Xenograg Division:Kalamere Ar'Din vs. Xenograg kathu-Darelir

First Round Kalamere's victory over Percival in the first round was a fairly average victory of 8 votes to 3...not dominating, but not all that close either. In general, it appears that while Percival has his supporters, there's a general consensus that Kalamere would win under most conditions.

More closely contested was the husband vs. wife matchup of Xenograg and the Lady Amaltea thu-Darelir-Barsi. It turns out that Amal did defeat Xenograg in the first round of the Warlord's Tournament in 1994 where she ultimately won the vacant Overlordship and became first ever Overlady; while it took quite some time to occur, Xenograg got a rather diluted form of revenge in the first round here. Xeno took an early one point lead, only for Amal to take a one-point lead herself, only for Xenograg to tie it up...finally, Xeno pulled off a crucial vote for a victory of 6 votes to 5. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if this matchup had it had a longer voting period to play with.


Past History: In terms of competitive history, this is the richest second round matchup in the tournament. Kalamere defeated Xenograg to win the Overlordship in 1995...when Xenograg won the mantle for the third time, Ar'Din(Baron of the Fifth at the time) specifically stated that he aligned Renegade because he could not align Loyal to a dueler who had never beaten him in the rings. This was the first challenge for the mantle of Overlord by a Renegade Baron in the history of the Duel of Swords.

However, it's more than worth remembering that this was nearly 15 years ago, and Xenograg has been far more active in recent years(although Kalamere has not been entirely inactive).

"Common Links" in Challenge and Tournament Duels: Kalamere Ar'Din lost the Overlordship within a matter of weeks to Siera Redwin; not much longer before this, Xenograg defeated Redwin in a Test of Worthiness duel as the challenger. Moving much further forward in time, Kalamere lost to Xeric Mues in the second round of the 2008 DoS Madness; Xenograg defeated Mues in a successful defense of the 11th/Old Market Ring, and defeated him in the undefeated bracket final of the Summer 2008 WLT. However, he went on to lose to Mues in two consecutive duels in the finals of that Warlord's Tournament.
