(4) Vanion Shadowcast vs. (5) Artemus Kurgen
Date: TBA
Time: TBA
First Duel: Magic
Second Duel: Fists
Third Duel: Swords
Results: TBA
Random Insight:
We may have missed out on what would've been an interesting match in Vanion vs. Tass, but I have high hopes that this quarterfinal match will more than make up for the loss of fine dueling! Vanion and Art are members of a select cadre of duelists who are not simply satisfied with countering their opponent's predicted action, which they excel at, but have been known to decide their approach to a round by what they think their OPPONENT thinks they're going to do (aka third-level thinking). Now, this approach to dueling can heavily backfire at times, and I know this from hard experience, but it guarantees a good match when two students of this particular style of dueling face off. Fists is the easiest to predict, as Vanion has been having a good season in IFL and remains at the top of his game, while Art has been only breaking even. Therefore, I'm going for Vanion to pick up a one- or two-point lead, but I know that if he loses here, he's going to lose big. Magic is slightly harder to predict; while Vanion may seem to be more experienced than Art, he has not been casting nearly as well as he did at the peak of his game. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if Art could pull an upset win here, as he did with me. If he does, however, it will probably only be a point in his favor, which brings us to the last discipline to discuss, Swords. Swords is the hardest discipline to predict between these two, as Vanion and Art are both capable of taking big wins from each other here. Yet I believe that the match will end up being close, and so the match win will ultimately depend on whether Vanion can take a good lead in the Fists duel: if Vanion does, he will likely win; if Art keeps it close or takes a big win for himself, he will be favored to win the match. Personally, I think Vanion's performance as of late has been too solid for him to crumble so early in the tournament for him, and so I'm going with him for the win. However, as I know all too well, one must never count out Art to surprise me and make it to the semifinals, so let's see if he proves my analysis wrong!
This is the place to post match dates and times, the order of the disciplines, predictions, previews/commentary (like my Random Insights) trash talking, shout-outs or other signs of support to the duelists, the announcement of the start of the duel, and the play-by-play results of each duel and the overall outcome of the match.
Let's have a good match and may the best duelist win!

Don't underestimate me, for when I'm working I'm super shiny and sit on a post.
And I walk on ceilings, so try to mess with that, fool.
