Practice Duels Channel

Post by Mallory »

Hey everyone!

You might have noticed that we’ve added a new channel to our discord server, down in the “other stuff” section: #practice-duels. We thought it might be helpful to set a space aside where players can help teach others how to use the bot, how to duel, or how to duel in a new sport! This is an OOC space for practice duels and conversations about dueling.

There are two ways to set up a duel in the #practice-duels channel:
  1. Send ?practice [sport] [opponent] to the Nexus Guide. Example: ?practice dos “Mallory”
  2. Send ?chal p [sport] [opponent] to the Nexus Guide. Example: ?chal p dos “Mallory”
Both of these commands will send a practice challenge to your opponent and will set you up in the #practice-duels channel. “P” is the room code for the #practice-duels channel.

Some important things to note: You can still practice dueling in any of the dueling channels, like the Outback or the Annex. If your character wants to do some practice sparring on Twilight Isle, you’re more than welcome to use the bot and play that out in-character. Just keep in mind that any duel during regulation hours (8pm to 2am ET) will count towards your record. If it’s during regulation and you don’t want the duel to count, set it up in the #practice-duels channel and you’ll be all set!

Another thing to note: Please keep in mind that the #practice-duels channel is a public space. We don’t recommend using this for in-depth strategy sessions between mentors and mentees. Those conversations are probably best done in private. This is a place primarily for people learning something new or trying things out, so let’s keep that in mind too before jumping in with unsolicited commentary.

We hope you’ll find this new feature useful, and if you have any questions about it, please feel free to post in the Community Townhall!
